Yánshēn 顏身: ‭ A Reunion of Body & Garment through Performance

Through performance, Yánshēn merges body and garment into interconnected vessels. It introduces a textile woven from three fibers: color-changing Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Elastomer (CLCE), water-absorbing hydrogel, and organic cotton. This fabric shifts color when stretched and enhances rigidity, adhesion, and cooling as it absorbs moisture. Integrated into performance garments, it visually responds to body movement and functions as a biosensor, reflecting the performer’s physical state. Yánshēn transforms clothing into a responsive, embodied medium—bridging the performer and performance through dynamic interaction.
