We’re proud to announce that Intrexon Corporation, a leader in the engineering and industrialization of biology, is a Platinum Sponsor of Biodesign Challenge 2017.

“I’m extremely excited to have Intrexon involved in the Biodesign Challenge. BDC creates a platform where art, design, science and industry can gather for thoughtful dialogue about desired futures,” said Daniel Grushkin, Director of BDC and Executive Director of Genspace. “Intrexon is clearly committed to that dialogue.”

The INTREXON SUSTAINABLE FOOD + AGRICULTURE PRIZE will be awarded to the student team that explores a project that addresses agriculture, food production, packaging, or distribution. The world will need to feed 9 billion people by 2050, and we ask participating teams to consider all aspects of nourishment, including environmental impact, lifecycle, and scale. The award will go to the team that produces the most compelling project about the future of food and agriculture.

“Through our sponsorship we are helping to ensure that the next generations of bright, creative minds explore projects to solve some of the world's most pressing problems in sustainable food production and agriculture. Intrexon is proud to help lead innovation in this field,” said Sekhar Boddupalli, Ph.D., Head of Intrexon’s Food Sector.

To stimulate ideas, BDC will host an online seminar for all students to explore the future of food with Intrexon’s leaders. Details to be announced.

The winner of the Intrexon Award for Sustainable Food and Agriculture will be announced on June 23rd at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City at the BDC Summit. Winners will be picked by a jury of historians, scientists, social scientists, entrepreneurs, designers and artists.
