HuskHabitat is a bird-habitat façade system designed for Istanbul’s dome-shaped and historic architecture, addressing biodiversity loss caused by rapid urbanization. Inspired by Ottoman birdhouses, it integrates nesting spaces with an acoustic biocomposite made from recycled sunflower seed husks, a local waste material. Through material experimentation and ecological design, the project transforms buildings into biodiversity infrastructure that supports human-bird coexistence, reduces urban noise, and promotes continuity, adaptability, collectivity, and environmental responsibility within urban ecosystems.
